Culture and Diversity in the Boardroom. Insights.

Following our event in London, Sept 26th, I would like to thank the exceptional panel speaker line-up: Sir Winfried Bischoff, Annemarie Durbin, Eamonn McGrath & Sharon Constancon for participating in “NEDonBoard: The Effect of Culture and Diversity in the Boardroom” event.

The panel was extremely knowledgeable, diverse and dynamic in providing practical and direct experience, advice and information. From the feedbacks and discussions during the drinks networking, it appears that everyone found it a very thought-provoking, inspiring and useful event. Thank you for making the event a successful experience and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Our aim was to provide an experienced and interactive panel to stimulate debate and encourage change in the boardroom. Personally, the takeaways I am going to apply at NEDonBoard are:

1/ To close the “culture gap” by ensuring it is correctly shared at all layers of management;

2/ To make sure, as a chairman, the inclusion happens in practice within the Boardroom

3/ To screen for diversity more around set of values and personal experiences: it goes far beyond the gender equality.

Thank you, Kirsty for sharing your thoughts. One of a tricky point when you bring diversity at board level, it is to ensure you keep consistency among the strategy and direction of the business or entity: the role of the chairman is critical to implement this fine balance and cohesion.

Thanks JP and yes agree diversity matters - we see it through the lens of bringing people from different sectors together on boards to provide scrutiny and challenge.
